LASIK eye surgery is the most common type of surgery to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. With clearer, sharper vision, you will no longer need to use prescription eyeglasses or contacts again.
If you are interested in LASIK eye surgery, the optometrists at We Are Eyes in Boca Raton can tell you what to expect and perform your pre-operative and post-operative care. We work closely with the Millennium Laser Eye Center, where we refer patients who are interested in LASIK.
LASIK Pre-Op Evaluation
Our optometrists will determine if you are a good candidate for LASIK eye surgery thorough a comprehensive eye exam that includes many specialized tests. We will evaluate the thickness, curvature, and topography of your eye’s external surface (cornea) where the laser treatment will be performed. We will also examine the interior regions of your eyes to check for eye disease.
If you have any treatable pre-existing conditions that would prevent you from having LASIK, such as dry eye syndrome or blepharitis, we will treat them before referring you for surgery.
If you are a candidate, we will refer you to Millennium Laser Eye Center, recognized as the leader in LASIK laser vision correction in the Southeast. To prepare your eyes for surgery, we will also prescribe an antibiotic eye drop, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory eye drop, and artificial tears.
LASIK Post-Op Evaluation
Your eyesight will return quickly, and recovery times are often fast after LASIK eye surgery. However, it is important to follow up with We Are Eyes to ensure that your eyes are healing properly and to discuss any discomfort you may be experiencing.
We will schedule your initial post-op evaluation 1 week after your surgery, followed by visits at 1 month and then 3 months post-op to track your progress.
